Over
two thousand Natural Stone arches exist in the 76,000 plus
acres of Arches National Park. One of the most famous icons
of the park can be seen to your left. "Delicate Arch"
can be seen from a distance by hiking
100 yards off a parking area or up close by hiking a moderate
3 mile trail to the base. FYI, dogs are not allowed outside
of your car in the park so make sure you keep fido at home
or make arrangements at a kennel
in Moab.
Open
8am - 4:30pm, 365 days a year, except Dec 25th. Located
5 miles north of Moab on Hwy 191. Fees are $5 for individuals
or $10 per vehicle. Group discounts are available. Devils
Garden campground is located within the park and has 52
sites. Fee is $10 per night. Reservations are available.
Of course, there are tons of camping and lodging
options in Moab.
When
planning a visit be sure to allocate most of a day or longer
to fully enjoy the park. If you're on a time crunch you can
do the scenic drive and a few short hikes to get a taste of
Arches.
